Yes, and that isn't a lie.

It's live at the moment, but I havn't got everything working, such as the spider, at the moment, I am re-coding it to perl, so it's faster.

What should my SE offer that Google or Yahoo doesn't? I have good ideas.

I don't want it to become a terrably big thing, hoping to get agood amount of searches a day.

I won't beat Gient Google, but it's worth a try, whats the point in not trying?

Exactly. At the minute I don't think any webmaster could make a search engine better than Google, hence the reason that Yahoo tried to buy MSN to try and make a bigger, better search engine.
However there are some smaller search engines that a lot of people like, such as All The Web, AltaVista.

First of all you have to plan your job if u are really serious about having ur won Search Engine site. Divide whole of ur work in modules. Now to have it done hire someone or go for an individual work. A good programming knowledge is essential for it.

Actually incorrect.

Microsoft put a bid in for Yahoo, but Yahoo turned it down, not sure why though.

But Yahoo made a good choise.

I don't want you to disappoint your confidence right now but its too early to make such big statements. I think its better done silently than anouncing in public. in future people might call u chater-box.

There is nothing to give it a try. After all the great google too did not become this become overnight but they did start from the scratch. Yes, also that we cannot beat google or anyone can beat google at the moment. I wish you good luck on your venture.
