We have come through quite a challenging 2009! With the global financial crisis many people have lost their jobs and with global warming we have experienced extreme weather conditions. In Australia we have had raging bushfires where hundreds have lost their lives and severe flooding where hundreds of homes were lost. We now have a global food crisis. One sixth of the world's population, nearly one billion people, already live on less than $1 a day — the common measure of absolute poverty. Throughout the world we have experienced high magnitude earthquakes, the latest being in Samoa and Indonesia where hundreds more lost their lives.

It is interesting to note that the bible mentions these as signs of the end of the age in Matthew 24: 7 Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of birth pains.

Just something to think about amidst these troubled times.

So with that, I'll leave you with a New Year's greeting sent to me by a friend:

Sometimes it is very hard to say what we don’t mean.
Other times it is hard to say what we do mean and not hurt anyone in the process.

I’m not going to wish you a merry Christmas.
I’m not going to say have a happy new year.

All I am going to say this.
All the best for 2010 and enjoy all that you have and appreciate all that you give and get.

2010 is another year for all the people in the world
to face different challenges in life. Have a great year ahead and
think optimistically!
