I heard that yahoo charges a hefty amount to submit our sites to their directories and wonder whether is it really a worthy investment considering there were numerous free directories sites out there which accept our sites for free?

I too agree with you that yahoo directories just like dmoz is losing its importance, although google may disagree with this as google tend to give uttermost importance to the sites listed in both these directories, yahoo and dmoz.

i think Dmoz and yahoo directory are similar but there is small difference
that is yahoo directory is paid service and DMOZ is free service.

Yes you need to pay in yahoo directory.I think yahoo is expensive.

I think yes and no.

It worth it when you have - $10 000 + budget for website promotion.
It doesn't worth if you are trying to promote your site with $500 in your pocket.
